read your review on the partisans / pfs gig tim boy. I counted 85 in the venue for my zine 'crucial days', but whose arguing eh ? as someone who travelled 45 miles to see the pfs lads, and mighty fucking good they were and speaking to their main man afterwards I see no thanks from you regards them letting you go with 55 notes at the end of the night ? the spirit of punk lives on mate, and i know that pfs lost £ 120 on this gig alone and was with them when the sums were done at the end of the night mate, just reckon you owe a bit when a bit is done for you tim. ok you are pissed off with the turnout, but wheres the solidarity ? and how the fuck can the package price for the bands deter punks from going to the gig ? ( your review ) thats bollox mate. it dont matter what the bands charge that has fuck all to do with the turn out, you priced it fairly at £ 6, thing is mate you are the promoter and you were lucky the pfs lads are decent blokes and let you off the £ 55 you owed them. I know you lost too, but so did everyone, so how about it .... Mat, Notts Punk.

I didn't write the review for the gig, it was a mate of mine OMD. It is better if someone else reviews a gig I have promoted because then it is completely impartial. Personally I thought all the bands played excellent sets and I was just pissed off because at the end of the night I didn't have a penny to my name. But I surpose that's the risk you take. I could have pulled the gig months ago because I had an idea that I would lose out, but I thought that would be unfair on the bands. I don't promote gigs to make money and am quite happy if I break even but when I lose money that I can't afford it seems like the risks outweigh the benefits. I worked my nuts off to promote the gig and everybody knew about it but the turnout was pathetic, but that is no reflection on the bands. The people who didn't show up missed a great night. I agree what you say about package price for bands. The package price might deter promoters but it is only the price on the door that can deter punters from showing up and £6 was what I thought was a fair price. I am grateful that Keith let me off the £55 but that still left me over £250 down on the night.

Some of these so called package deals are a con. Lets for example say 3 band deal £1000. 500, headline band, 250, each support band. you may think OK that's pretty fair. But no offence most promoters won't pay support bands that much. I'd pay PARTISANS £500 for a gig in my town and get 2 local support acts and give them petrol and food money, total £550 a lot less than a grand. I know what you're thinking,, I don't know what the price was but I have a good idea.. If I were doing a gig for PFS or DOGZUKI, I'd ask what they wanted to gharge on the door and give them the takings. £6 was a good fair price for the punters and at the end of the day people do loose out. The person who lost the most was Tim for having too much faith in the UK punk scene. Bands with little or no status in the scene (AND I DON'T MEAN THE BANDS ARE BAD) putting together these packages need to take a good hard look at the state of punk today before asking for crazy amounts of cash.
